Committed to the cause of poverty reduction through integrating poor to markets and facilitating markets for the poor, International Development Enterprises India (IDEI), together with India Development foundation (IDF), organised a one-day conference on “Markets for the Poor Farmer” at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on June 30, 2003. A landmark event; the conference was highlighted by the significant participation of key players from both Indian and International Donor, Development and the Corporate community, at large, with the overall representation of nearly hundred delegates. Integrating the powerful dynamics of corporate markets and development initiatives, ‘Markets for the Poor Farmer’ is the quintessential first step towards the creation of a sustainable rural livelihood, the basic premise of poverty reduction.
